How long does therapy take?

There are a lot of factors that contribute to the length of counselling, so it is difficult to predict until we begin working together. Typically, clients commit to counselling for 3-6 months, and progress is measured monthly.

How often do we meet?

We have found that meeting often improves clients’ progress toward their goals. For that reason, we carry a small caseload to offer our clients weekly and intensive sessions. We can establish a set time to meet and that will be our reoccurring weekly appointment.

But wait! That’s a lot. Why do we meet so much?

Doing healing work at the level that will sustain long-term change takes time. It’s a commitment. Clients who invest in the time get better faster and with less relapse into old patterns.

What kind of results can I expect from counselling?

Our clients describe feeling at ease, self confident, more in control of their thoughts and emotions, less reactive and have a stronger bond in their relationships. Overall, they feel less triggered and are able to respond to situations in life, rather than be hijacked by old reactions. At the end of therapy, they feel more peace, calm, a sense of freedom and closer in their relationships. Parents report following child/teen therapy their children seem softer, gentler, calm, confident and have more self-control. Couples state they are happy, have fun with each other, experience their partner as treating them well, “finally listening” to them, even wanting to hear what they have to say, and feeling accepted for who they are. Parents following family therapy describe feeling hopeful and reassured seeing the connection between their partner and their children and their children with each other, they are no longer fighting, at each other’s throats, and their home felt like a war zone and now feels peaceful and they look forward to going home at the end of the work day, no longer worried what will greet them when they get home.
